Located in the vast lambwe valley is Ruma National Park. rarely visited but considered one of the most beautiful parks in south western Kenya where you get to see the rare species of antelopes namely roan antelope and the oribi.
These rare species are endemic to this area and other wildlife in the park include: rothschild's girraffe, impalas,leopard and recently introduced white Rhinos

This is the smallest park in the country created with the sole purpose of protecting sitatunga antelope.
Sitatunga is a unique type of antelope with elongated hooves mostly adapted to marshy areas.However it is a very rare type of antelope only found in Saiwa and the Congo forest.other wildlife in the park include bushbacks,crown cranes and numerous birds.

The lower volcanic mountain (4320mtrs) named after maasai word "Ol Donyo ilgoon" meaning "breast mountain" is Mt. Egon which is highly protected on the east and unprotected thick forests on the west side.
Large herds of animals roam the park freely and numerous caves in the park act as major attractions because elephants come in big numbers to lick salt in side the caves.

The largest fresh water lake in the country and only second in the world after Lake Albert in the US-Canada border.Lake Victoria is however shared by three East African nations of Tanzania.Uganda and Kenya.
In the 1960s,the Lake which is also the source of river Nile used to have over five hundred brilliantly coloured fish known as cichlids all of which were endemic to the Lake. Lake Victoria's cichlids are popular aquarium fish and one of the commonest species the tilapia is still a specialty in the region.
However introduction of the carnivorous Nile perch in the mid 60s ate all other species into extinction and hence a massive reduction of other species of fish in the lake.
